Strength Within Aligning Yoga - SWAY Yoga Foundation Overview
The SWAY Yoga Foundation (Strength Within Aligning Yoga) empowers individuals and communities disproportionately impacted by trauma and limited access to holistic healing. Through intentional wellness practices, we foster personal transformation into leadership, recognizing that individuals who heal themselves are better equipped to uplift those around them. SWAY nurtures wellness as a leadership quality — cultivating role models, mentors, and community builders whose personal resilience ripples outward to inspire sustainable, positive change in their families, communities, and beyond.
The SWAY Yoga Foundation is the only holistic yoga and wellness studio in Southwest Atlanta and one of the only studios in the broader Atlanta market willing and capable of holding space for deep trauma and grief work in a culturally rooted, trauma-informed way. Founded on January 2, 2019, as Southwest Atlanta Yoga, LLC, SWAY transitioned to nonprofit status in October 2024. From its inception, SWAY was never just about offering yoga classes — it was built to address the unique needs of a community disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities, chronic stress, and generational trauma.
From its inception, SWAY set a new standard, changing the narrative and landscape of what yoga could be in Atlanta—a practice that embraces the whole healing journey, not just physical fitness but also emotional resilience, cultural connection, and empowerment. With our noses down and feet on the mat, the look of our work went worldwide, having a global impact across the yoga landscape. Despite the growing awareness of wellness and trauma-informed care, the depth and authenticity of our work continue to go unmatched.
The heart of our foundation lies in the understanding that access to wellness—mental, physical, and emotional—is not equally available to all. Many communities, especially those from diverse backgrounds and underserved populations, face significant barriers to maintaining optimal health. At SWAY, we work on the preventive side of wellness, recognizing the profound need for yoga and other healing modalities as tools for transformation. Our mission is to bring these resources to historically inaccessible communities.
Our philosophy is simple: “Be the change we wish to see in the healing space.” We strive to provide equal access, opportunity, and a nurturing environment to everyone who crosses our doorway.
With homes in Georgia, Mississippi, and Arizona, SWAY Yoga Foundation has deep roots in the communities we serve. We are dedicated to giving back by offering programs that bring health, healing, joy, understanding, and gratitude to those most in need. Through our commitment to holistic wellness and empowerment, we continue to build resilient, thriving communities across the regions we serve.
Our Program Pillars include:
- Yoga for all ages and other forms of mind/body work: i.e, reiki, sound therapy and more
- Mindfulness & Meditation Activities for Families and Individuals
- Retreats & Events that offer a deeper dive into yoga, mindfulness, and community connection.
- Yoga Alliance approved 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification
